Introduction: [Collegiate Meals] Franks and Beans - a Casserole of Sorts

About: Engineer making renewable energy products for African entrepreneurs.

For those that will experience a gastronomical event, emphasis on gas, after eating baked beans - this recipe is not for you. Unless you're into that sort of thing (but that's a story for another time).

This is one of those recipes that I grew up with as a little kid. It's from that tender age when your parents call eggplant Parmesan pizza and tiny toons is like crack for little kids.

This can be made in the oven (or a toaster oven), in the microwave or on the stove ;)

Step 1: Ingredients

This is another one of those recipes that you can adjust the proportions without any bad consequences. Unlike baking and pastry making, this isn't an exact science ;)

Canned Baked Beans
Hot Dogs
Spicy Brown Mustard
Ketchup

Step 2: Prep and Cook (preheat to 350 or Not)

Find a suitable baking apparatus to fit in your oven (or microwave).

Slice your hot dogs and throw into your baking tin/glass.

Pour in a can of baked beans.

Add about two tablespoons of mustard and ketchup per can of beans.

Stir/mix well.

You can add other ingredients - but why mess with tradition?

For one can, place in a preheated (toaster)oven for 30-45 minutes - or until heated throughout. Add about 15 minutes per can. But keep in mind that what you cook in changes cook time.

If you're cooking in a microwave, I'm honestly not sure how long to cook ;) Just stir every 10 minutes or so until hot.

If you want to skip the oven and nuke -- stove top! Add all ingredients to a pot and heat over medium heat for 15-20 minutes (until water has reduced).

Step 3: Serving Suggestion

I spoon this into a bowl and eat with a few slices of toast.

To be honest, I can't think of another way to serve :) If you have a suggestion - do let me know and I'll update this.
